Importantly, Flickerwell Academy also teaches you how to ensure your content is accessible to the widest-possible audience.

Relevance: Flickerwell Academy launched in 2025, making it the most up-to-date digital writing course in New Zealand. It includes a comprehensive chapter on the benefits, dangers, and uses of AI — along with current best practice for search engine optimisation and accessibility.
For Kiwis by Kiwis: Flickerwell Academy was developed in New Zealand, and in New Zealand English. It includes guidance that’s unique to the New Zealand digital environment, including the use of te reo Māori words and special characters like macrons. It also includes extensive real-world examples from New Zealand websites.
New Zealand Style Guide: Flickerwell is the publisher of the New Zealand Style Guide — suggested standards for the design, formatting, and writing of documents in New Zealand English. This is a free companion resource for all students.

Personal feedback: Each time you complete one of the five quizzes, you will receive feedback from our course editor or another team member, along with your score. (Each quiz includes a mix of multiple-choice and short-answer questions.)

How long does it take to complete Flickerwell Academy?
Every student is different, and it depends on how deeply you want to explore the course content.
But here’s a rough breakdown:
100 lessons at 5 minutes each: Approx 10 hours
Thought-provoking questions (3 to 4 per lesson): Approx 30 hours
5 quizzes at 25 minutes each: Approx 2 hours
Can I learn at my own pace?
Yes.
Once enrolled, you will have unlimited access to Flickerwell Academy for one year.
Each of the 100 five-minute lessons can be taken at any time, on any device. Your progress will be saved, so you can pick up where you left off.
Do you offer support for students?

FAQs about pricing and payment
Is there a free trial or sample course available?
No.
This is because our course contains original, copyrighted content — so we do not make any part of it freely available.
If you choose to enrol, you will gain instant access to all five courses (comprising 20 chapters and 100 five-minute lessons) for one year.
Do you offer bulk pricing?
Yes.
Bulk pricing is available to New Zealand-based organisations.

What payment options are there?
Individual enrolments
We accept payment by credit card at the time of enrolment.
There are no additional charges, and your enrolment will not automatically renew.
Bulk enrolments
For New Zealand-based organisations, we can issue an invoice for payment by credit card or direct deposit.
Access to Flickerwell Academy will be granted upon receipt of payment.
There are no additional charges, and enrolments will end after one year.
Do you offer refunds?
No.
Flickerwell Academy is a digital product. Enrolment grants you instant access to all course content, so it’s not possible to ‘undo’ that access.

How do I enrol in Flickerwell Academy?
Individual enrolments
Visit flickerwell.com/academy and scroll to the enrolment button near the bottom of the page — or choose the Enrol link in the main navigation menu.
You’ll be prompted to enter your details and create a password, before proceeding to checkout.
Once enrolled, you’ll receive emails with details of how to access your course materials.
Bulk enrolments
Bulk enrolments are processed differently.

Will my enrolment automatically renew?
No.
Enrolment is a one-time purchase that grants instant, unlimited access to Flickerwell Academy for one year.
We do not store your payment details, and will not automatically renew your enrolment.
Will my progress be lost after 12 months?
Yes and no…
We keep records of all quiz scores and course completions.
But when your enrolment lapses, you’ll lose the record of which lessons you completed. That information is only visible to you, and only for as long as your enrolment remains active.
We therefore encourage you to complete the five courses within one year, or to extend your enrolment before the 12 months are up.
